Un bonjour d'Allemagne.

Message par GermanFulu2024 »

Hello, my name is Jens and I come from Brandenburg in Germany. In the past I came across the Cichlidenweltforum by chance to clarify stocking questions about a new tank. This brought me into contact with various members. It was about fish identification of species that I had been keeping up to then, and I quickly realised that most of the fish were all inbreds or hybrids. After some interesting discussions in the forum with Axel B., Marco W., Thomas U. and many other active Victoria cichlid keepers at the time, the Fulus were recommended to me. So I wanted to make a small contribution and keep a few species in a 540 litre aquarium. At the time, the stock consisted of Pundamilia Nyererei "Makobe Island", Astatoreochromis alluaudi and Lipochromis Matumbi Hunter.

At the time, I was looking for a way to make stock available to all members of the forum and found an initial solution with an Excel spreadsheet and the Dropbox, but unfortunately this was not well received by everyone, so the project came to nothing.

My life was then also centred around other things such as family, work and other hobbies.

This was my stocking for many years until I made a serious mistake during a water change and accidentally poisoned my fish in the long term. Out of ignorance, I used an overstocked plant fertiliser. So a few months ago I was faced with the question of what to do next.

While looking for new fish and contacting Marco, after trying in vain to find the forum again, I quickly realised that many keepers from back then were no longer there. As a result, many species from back then have also disappeared. That made me very sad, as there really were a lot of keepers back then.

So, in consultation with my partner, I fulfilled a small dream.
I started looking for aquariums and then found a few that I bought.
Two community tanks measuring 200x80x60 and 140x100x60. I contacted Marco again and by chance found Dirk W. on Kleinanzeigen.de who also kept Fulus. II found Kim via Facebook and visited him in Denmark August 2024. So I started to set up the tanks. When they were finished, I had the idea of setting up a few tanks in the cellar. So I spoke to Marco again about what, how, where etc. As a result, I ended up with several 350 litre, 300 litre, 250 litre, 150 litre, 100 litre and 60 litre tanks in my cellar. I now have 3500 litres of water there and another 1800 litres in the flat.

Of course, I was looking for some species that I wanted to keep, but I soon realised that these species no longer exist in Germany.

For example: Harpagochromis Orange Rock Hunter, Pundamilia Crimson Tide or Red Snout, Neochromis nigricans, some location variants of Paralabidochromis Chilotes and Pundamilia Nyererei, Yssichromis species, Lithochromis rufus etc.

Unfortunately, we have lost some of these species in Germany or they have been abandoned or we have too few keepers for them.

My idea of registering here was to perhaps, with your help, re-establish a few of these species in Germany. And maybe you can help, I would be happy to hear from you.

I currently keep the following species:
Paralabidochromis plagiodon Butimba Bay
Pundamilia nyererei Ruti Island
Pundamilia nyererei Senga Island
Ptyochromis fischeri Jinja
Ptyochromis red rock sheller
Haplochromis Ruby Green
Haplochromis Fire Red Uganda
Haplochromis Red back scraper
Haplochromis thereuterion
Harpagochromis sp. Lake Nyagou

Greetings from Germany.
